New to the MkV world... getting ready to install a cupkit on my Rabbit, and wanted to tap on your knowledge.
I have these waiting..
What you see is what I have.. an already "put together" front couple of springs and shocks, springs and shocks separate for the rear...
is there anything else I need, before I take the car apart to install them?
If I recall correctly, on my MkIII cupkit install, that was basically all that was needed (the front needed to have the "hats" from the stock suspension, on this, the "hats" are there)
Anyway... any input is appreciated! I'm trying to get it a little lower as soon as possible, pending this info.. I saw the DIY for suspension install, but not a lot of images..
Some light reading below that should get you started. Some of the bolts are one time use, so you may want to consider replacing some, notably the front strut pinch bolts and front axle bolts if you remove them. There are routes to go without removing the axle bolts though. Some will just reuse. ECS sells install kits with some of the new hardware. You may also consider new strut mounts if yours have a lot of miles on them -- also in the ecs kit: http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...n/Install_Kit/
Wow! thanks man! read through them and now I have a better idea of what to expect..
The fronts are already set, spring is mounted with fresh strut mounts with the lowering springs.. and from what I can tell from the DIYs, all I need to do is remove the 3 bolts under the rain tray and the shock from the strut clamp at the bottom...
I do not want to remove the axles or anything like that, so I am gonna follow the last link on the list, and compress the springs so I can just "angle them out"..
