Thread: doors are stiff really hard to open and close

  1. 04-30-2012 07:49 AM #1
i have a 2007 jetta and my front doors feel really heavy and stiff.

it feels like its getting harder and harder to open and close the doors.

i have yet to grease anything.

should i be greasing anything? what should i be greasing and what type of grease should i be using?

as well i saw online something about tightening a bolt with an Alleyn on the side of the door, this was for BMW would it be the same for vw?
Ive been looking online and been finding door locks stiff but im starting to have trouble opening and closing the door, and im no weak man lol

    thanks for your feedback

Or use some white lithium grease, lasts longer.

    Lol thanks guys

Yes my biceps are quite hard

I greased the hinges and all is ok... I know the doors are heavier than normal with the dynomat/speakers etc but it was actually sticking when trying to close

    All is working fine now

i tried grease and also silicone i noticed its fine for a few days then the door sticks again, doesnt close all the way have to push it really hard to close it.

how much dynamat do you have in the doors? Could the door need to be realigned because of any added weight you put in the doors?

you know what that could be a possibility.

all 4 doors have dynomat (full door) not only around the speakers.

the back doors close pretty much on its own.

both front doors are having a hard time swinging back and forth.

i knew my front doors would feel a bit heavier but didnt know it could cause alignment problems.

is there a way i can re-align this myself?
