Does anyone happen to have a picture of an S1 dashboard striped down to the metal core? I have a dash that is pretty cracked and am kicking around the idea of striping it back to the metal and painting it.

I saw this restore thread a couple months ago but want a little different look.

If it's already out have someone fill the cracks and wrap with vinyl

I stripped mine down to metal for a previous project. Only photo I have is this video which doesn't show much. You will be hard pressed to re-create the foam as the metal shell has gaps and holes in it. I started to re-do the holes with expanding foam and was going to re-cover it somehow but ended up just finding a better dash to replace it with. Once you strip the foam it will be tough to re-do.

    click for vid.

Thanks guys! The point is I don't want a vinyl covered dashboard. Just metal with some coating and maybe Perlon Felt on the top to cut down on glare.

I need a picture before I bite the bullet and strip the vinyl and foam so I know what I am up against.

    Thanks again!

Still would like to see a pic before I do this. I have a sneaking feeling that a stripped dash would look good. My car is going to be very minimal so a full dash isn't really needed.
