    Hi all,

After a couple of months of Phaeton (2006 3.0 Diesel) ownership, I'm finding this site and all the info on it outstanding, and very useful.

A question about the sat nav. I live in Switzerland, close to the France border. Every time I drive over the border, the nav goes blank, as if the roads just stop. Come back into Switzerland and all Switzerland is mapped perfectly.

I've a Euro disc, and the odd thing is when I drove the car over from the UK, and drove through France, the nav worked perfectly!

No great hurry for an answer - more an annoyance than a must fix!

Cheers in advance for any advice,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

I am told that only the main through-routes are covered 'cross-border' when using a localised Nav CD. Might it be that you are crossing at a local minor border point? The long trip would have been covered, on the main roads...

    Morning Matt,

I think Chris is correct, a single country CD will navigate through other countries on major roads only and will not show any points of interest (POI). I have experienced this with my UK and France CD’s.
I have just bought a 10 pack of CD’s to cover Europe and also experienced the same symptoms as you where the screen goes blank when you cross a border (I was on a motorway), but to compensate for this the pack contains a separate CD to navigate you across counties on major roads only……..so my thoughts are, could your Switzerland CD be from a Europe pack set?

    Regards,
    Barry.

So, closer inspection of my nav disc shows it is Central Europe. It turns out that this is Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany and Czech. But not France which has it's own disc. As you say, it must have a major roads of Europe section which is why I could navigate through France.

    Thanks for your help!
