All, at a track day this weekend, my clutch began to slip. Upon pitting there was smoke billowing out from under the hood.
When i stopped, there was a ton of smoke coming from the timing window on the transmission, literal billowing out, as well as fluid all over the engine bay. I am assuming this is transmission fluid, but it was dirty enough from the clutch housing that I’m not positive. Fairly certain its not oil. Too much of the fluid to be brake fluid but I haven’t checked the reservoir yet.
As far as I can tell, whatever fluid it was saturated the clutch, burned off causing the smoke, then was sprayed out of the timing window. Everything still shifted as normal.
Your rear main seal could be leaking. And it would saturate the clutch if it was leaking fast enough. Does it leak only when the car is running? Let it idle and take a look down there.
as far as i know its only leaking internaly. If it was the rear main, wouldnt it be oil all over everything? this was a very abrupt issue. First two laps where fine, then it started slipping.
