I think the stock clutch will wear out pretty fast once you go stage 2+
I also heard that TSI clutches are weaker than FSI and some FSI cars have clutches that can hold up to stage 2+ power levels

Have there been any cases where people are breaking manual trannies on stage 2+??
What is the limit?
Thanks! The wife is looking to get one soon and we want to build it up.

If you have a DSG I read on this forum forgot where, that your DSG transmission can hold 400+hp easily..

Manual clutches won't last long past stage 2.
DSG clutches are holding 500hp with no upgrades![]()

You're fine. It's the same trans in the R20. Upgrade your clutch. Look into an LSD.![]()

I would definitely get an LSD my 07 Supercharged Civic Si has one stock. I'm making 325whp 216wtq 9lbs boost. (planning for more) ran 12.6 @ 113
The plan is to build the GTI stage 3 for my wife near what I have and we will go to the dragstrip together. /win

Stage 3 GTI will put down slightly more than those numbers at the wheels. But then you also need to rebuild the internals of the block.
It'll blow that Civic out of the water.

Read my post im gonna be adding more power to my setup (it isnt maxed out). I wouldnt be so sure about blowing it out of the water either lol.
Anyways what do you mean build the internals I see people making around 330whp and 300wtq I thought motor was good for 400?

you won't have to worry about the transmission breaking... as long as you don't go full retard when driving. The 02Q (6spd manual) trannies are some of the strongest VW has produced.
And whoever is burning thru stock clutches on only stg2+ does not know how to drive. I'm on stock clutch and have been stg2+ with every bolt on imaginable and W/M injection for almost 40k miles. The stock clutch is holding fine with 83k on it now.
That being said, i'm knocking on wood as i type this...![]()
Engineers do it better.

Damn I thought I read the fsi could do 400 and tsi had even thicker rods...
I dont care for messing with the engine.

You apparently know very little about these cars so I'd suggest you buy something else.
Stage 3 will put down over 400hp at the crank. At that point you will need to change the pistons and rods or replace your engine every 500 miles.
So at Stage 3 = 400+ hp at the crank
- the 15% loss in powertrain
= 340-350whp and 360-380 ft-lbs
way more than your current set up and no I didn't read about your plans because I don't care about hondas.
Depending on your transmission set up as well you will walk the **** out of the civic at stage 3
I hope your girl can really drive other wise they'll be scraping her body off the highway one night.

LOL I should buy something else because I don't know how much power they can handle on a stock engine?? 99% of people should be walking then and not driving anything. That kind of thinking makes no sense.
This is a forum where you can learn from people who have "been there done that"
Also, I have already ran 12.6 @ 113 in my car and that is with 325whp once I am up to 360+ it will be even faster and once I change my blower to a whipple I'm looking at 400+. You can make power with anything depending on how much money you put into it so generically saying I'll be walked or have my ass handed to me is silly.
Obviously I'm not tied to one brand and I'm no fanboy. I came here for help and information not remarks from a hater, but this is the Internet.
Thanks everyone else for the help. Damn actually I got to thank you too since you confirmed the power they will hold. I'll keep it at Stage2+ and be happy. Ultimately the build has to start somewhere and that will be Stage 1+ anyways.
We cool? I'm cool, brah.
