Well after owning the R for a little over a month now, I must say I'm quite impressed with the car thus far. This is coming from someone who just sold their Porsche 996TT. Obviously the R is no 911 turbo, but for one reason or another, I enjoy driving this car a lot more on a daily basis. I've always loved the previous generation R32's but there was always something missing for me to actually want to own one. However when the MKVI R was released, that all changed. VW finally got everything right compared to the first two generations in a multitude of aspects. Don't get me wrong, the previous R32's were great cars, but as we all know, both the MKIV/V were lacking in more ways than one. However, now thanks to many technological advancements over the past four years and a clearly more robust and thorough effort from VW, they finally built the R the way it was meant to be built. The car drives and feels much more like an Audi than a VW, and they finally gave it the high quality interior & exterior styling that the previous generations had lacked substantially. The fact that it's turbo+AWD+6spd+hatchback and NOT a damn Subaru made it a no brainer, at least for me. Living at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains really puts a premium on the AWD aspect, but even if I lived in Florida or Texas this would still be the car that I'd choose as my daily driver. With that being said, and this may sound a little cheesy & cliche, but I honestly feel the R is without a doubt the ultimate daily driver on the market for the money. But then again maybe I'm just biased

    Exterior:
    - OEM Euro tinted LED taillights
    - complete 3M clear bra (custom cut, not a kit)
    - 5% tint all around w/ glare strip
    - gloss black front emblem
    - gloss black rear hatch emblem
    - smoked front sidemarkers
    - smoked side mirror turn signal lenses
    - smoked rear turn signal lenses
    - smoked third brake light
    - blacked out rear bumper reflectors
    - R valve stem caps
    - R license plate frame

    Interior:
    - R Mojo Mats
    - R stainless seat lever inserts
    - R interior badge
    - LED interior lighting
    - OEM First-Aid kit
    - V1 radar detector

    Wheels/Tires/Suspension:
    - 19x8 Neuspeed RSE14 Satin Black
    - Continental ExtremeContact DW 225/35ZR/19
    - Neuspeed Sport springs

*Sorry for the low quality pics, I just snapped these really quick. I plan on having a proper photoshoot done once the car is closer to being finished. Also the car is a little dirty and hasn't been detailed since it's been raining lately so please excuse the messiness*

I love the look of those wheels with the OEM center caps. Got my gunmetal RSe14's on order for my Rising Blue wagon.

I was debating between these and a few other sets (Enkei,VMR,OZ,etc.) but in the end, only the Neuspeed offered everything I was looking for. So glad I went with them!

I wish I found them first.

Not sure when Im going to do wheels. As soon as my APR TBE gets here Im going to be stage 2+, so I think Im going to chill out with the spending. I was looking at a set of DPE wheels tho

DPE wheels are definitely nice! For me personally, I couldn't justify putting really expensive wheels on this car, especially since it's my daily. I guess it just depends on what you want to do with the car. But then again, this is coming from a guy who's going to drop $5k on seats, so take my comments with a grain of salt I guess

Seriously though, big props to those who've gone all out with the HRE's, BBS's, ADV.1's, DPE's etc. They're as good as it gets when it comes to wheels, but for me the Neuspeed's were a more ideal balance of quality & value.

The car is looking great, can't wait to see it on Neuspeed springs and can't wait to see those wheels on my CW Golf R!! How is the satin black finish? Does it match the glossy black trim on the rest of the car or does it leave you wanting more shine?

The Satin finish is perfect. A full gloss will blend too much with the exterior and then you can barely see the spoke design. It looks like there's a black hole on each corner or something. Also with a full gloss, if your tires aren't constantly treated it starts to look really bad. On the flip side, the problem with a matte finish is that it looks too dull and can make the car look cheap. But with satin it's a perfect balance...you can see the spokes well enough but it doesn't blend in too much with the rest of the car so it "washes" the wheels out. Wheel color always comes down to personal preference, but I think satin is the only way to go on a black wheel. I've had all three black finishes on a few different cars over the years. The problem is that most aftermarket wheels are only available in either matte or gloss, so I was really stoked to find out that the RSE14 came in satin. They would look GREAT on CW!

Btw for those interested, I can get sets of the RSE14 directly from Neuspeed for only $1150 shipped in most of the US (a little more for the east coast)

I agree with you on the expensive wheels. Even tho I could buy them, but that wont be for awhile. Wouldnt be the smartest move either. I have other priorities. That price has perked my ears up and is doable this summer.

Thanks for the insights, they helped a lot. Are you going to get the Euro R black headlight housings? Would complete the menacing look! Your DBP looks great bud.

OK I bite whats the catch? I am thinking of the same wheel/tire combo except gunmetal on black car as well. I was trying to decide which web shop to purchase the wheels from since they were all less than Neuspeed. PM me if you would rather.

Car looks great so far! Are you stock suspension in the pics in your first post? If you are, have a good side shot of the whole car you can share? I am debating if I should lower. I was thinking just H&R sport springs for the moderate 0.75" drop on the stock struts. I guess only drawback would be possibly more wear on stock struts. OEM Euro R springs didn't seem worth it for more than double the price. Thanks!

Neuspeed sport springs will be installed sometime this week. I'll post pics when I'm done and report feedback once they've settled. Also, the LED tails should be shipping soon

I went with OEM Plus. Fitment on one side is 100% perfect, the other side is almost perfect. One edge protrudes about 1mm more than it should but its not even noticeable. Even for me being as OCD as I am it hasn't bothered me.

Do you have a straight side shot you could post? I am trying to see how dark I want to go with the tint on my car.

As of right now no. The windows are essentially blacked out. It's very dark (too dark for most people) if you're not used to having it. I love 5% tint since it not only finishes the look on a black car, but it also keeps the interior protected from UV and it stays nice and cool even if I park out outside on a very hot day.

I had 20% on my MKV GTI and I like that but I wanted a little darker. I liked the contrast as it was white with tinted windows and black wheels. I love the blacked out look but the more I look(and the older I get) at black cars with black wheels and black windows the more I want some contrast. I will keep tabs on your thread, hopefully before I get my tint done you will post a side shot. Your car looks great btw, making it hard to decide on black wheels or not!

Neuspeed sport springs were installed today. I'll post some pics sometime this weekend after they've settled a little bit. So far I'm pleased with how they look. Not too low (which is exactly what I wanted) but no more ugly wheel gap. Total drop should be between .75-1 inch all around. In other words about a half inch lower than the Euro springs.

Once you've had them for a few weeks, be sure to post your impressions as to how they ride, how they match up with the stock dampers, and whether you notice any effects on handling or Haldex power delivery/transfer.

Slick. And you know what they say..

In the city it's a pity cuz you just can't hide.. Tinted windows don't mean nothing, they know who's inside

Indeed I will. My first impression is that the car feels slightly more nimble and responsive. This combined with the lighter weight Neuspeed wheels made a noticeable improvement. I'll post some more feedback after I've had them on for awhile.

decided to go with the EVOMS intake and engine cover setup since I got everything for a great deal directly from EVOMS. In the end, I couldn't justify the exorbitant cost (and waiting time) of the VWR. However, if I'm not happy with the EVOMS setup for whatever reason I'll just have to take the VWR plunge as I don't like any of the other options currently on the market.

Tails arrived this morning and will be installed today or sometime this weekend

I'll take some new pics of the tails and new ride height as soon as she's cleaned up...it's been raining here the last couple days.

Methinks you have some updating of the mod list in your initial post to do.
