Hey all, I recently picked up some Samarkands for my 3.6 4motion Passat which originally had the 17s on it. Since swapping, I first had a little wobbling issue which was mostly resolved with a balancing of the wheels. Now the only thing remaining is this sound of rubbing going on up front. It's pretty prominent at lower parking lot speeds since my ears can catch the sounds of the rotation. Being that they're factory wheels, from another Passat originally, I assumed they would bolt right up with no issue. They're ET44 18x8.5. Am I missing something here? Do I need spacers or something. Any help or advice would be much appreciated before I go chasing a rabbit down a hole I can't fit in. If its anything involving an alignment, that would be awesome because I'm gonna need one after I lower the car when I get back from my trip. Thanks a bunch.

Did you change suspension? If so, you need to run the limiters.

I have a new to me 4mo wagon w/ 18's. Are you sure that u aren't just hearing tire rumble? Mine is pretty pronounced at low speed w/ new tires.

I haven't changed the suspension yet. Going to be putting on H&R springs shortly. The sounds has too much of a rubbing sound for it to seem like tires noise. I will further investigate that hypothesis though. Thanks.

There are actually 18x8 not 8.5. What size tire are you running?

I think the 40 psi plus less rubber. = tire rumble especially if ur on summers. If ur rubbing tire something is broken. Just my opinion

Did you check inside the wheel well to see if the plastic liner thing might be loose and rubbing?

I'm on the same size wheel and tire running and H&R Cup Kit and you won't run. Also no need for limiters with the H&R's you won't hit and will want the extra travel on the dampness.

If you aren't swapping struts at the same time frankly don't waste your time, money and effort. Look into a good set of upper strut mounts as well so you do it right once.
