Hello everyone, my name is Mike. I just purchased a 2012 Golf 2.5 3-Door. I come from the BMW world, but I have a family member with a pristine 2003 Passat so I know how great VW's are

Below are some pictures. I look forward to talking to fellow members and learning about the Mark VI Golf.

Hi Mike, that's a beautiful car! I too just bought a '12 Silver Golf 2-dr. Mine doesn't have the sunroof nor the upgraded radio/armrest.) I'll be adding front only factory mud guards shortly. I can't wait to change out the stock Continental's to something better. (Michelin Pilot Exalto's are my first choice.) Enjoy and many safe driving miles! Bill

There is an aftermarket armrest install available and it appears to be easy.

Hi Bill, thanks for the kind words. Sounds like we have very similar cars.

I would like to do some stainless exhaust tips and the clear side markers. In the future when I have the money I'll upgrade to some nice BBS alloys or the like.

I did look into the armrests when I bought the car. Something like $400 installed and I don't believe the rear a/c vents would be functional. I think I would spend the $ on better tires and prehaps new rims. VW chrome tips would be nice but too much $$$. I'll look into "Gibson" tips. One thing i wouldn't mind is the body side moulding I saw on a GTI recently. Looked nice, but the way VW accessories are priced, it may wait awhile! Bill

    I love my Silver 2.5L
    I got mine in Dec.

The butt warmer option and the SAT radio sounds nice.
My 2.5 makes sweet music with help from this...

I have had the plate for a few years, it was originally on my 1995 BMW 540i.

    Very nice, sir!

I just traded my E34 in due to it eating parts like crazy and needing $3k worth of work to pass inspection. I loved the car and was/is very active on Bimmerforums.com. It was just time to move on. The Golf is very much a worth successor and it amazes me how it has more features than the E34. Well, now that I say that, it is 17 years newer, haha.

I miss my E34, but damn was it expensive!!!

I replaced practically everything in there including a E39 6 speed swap.

I've got a Golf and a GTI. Love my Golf.

That is how it was for me as well, and I did plenty of work myself. The biggest job I did was my valley pan gasket. Took me a couple days. I'll be back in a BMW someday, but it will be a fun car that only comes out on sunny days.
