10/21/12 : transmission is starting to slip, car is not being driven to avoid further problems. $1000 o.b.o. with clean title in hand. If interested, please read the ENTIRE post and PM with any interest or inquiries.

** 9/25/12 - E30 basket weaves pictured are no longer available, sitting on stock 14" steelies. Price dropped to $1,800 or best reasonable offer **

Unfortunately the time has come to sell off "Brian", my wife's trusty '94 Jetta GL automatic. It is in very good condition for its age, has minimal rust and has been well maintained, adult driven and kept clean. It has a 9/93 build date and is basically stock, but it does have some very mild modifications. Here are the details, both good, bad and indifferent:

    1994 Jetta GL:
    - Tornado red
    - 162,XXX original miles
    - automatic
    - NON-sunroof
    - factory NON-ABS 4-wheel disc
    - factory NON-air bag model

    GOOD:
    - solid floors/strut towers
    - original early Vento style dash (w/ illuminated vents, upper glove box, 3 position headlight switch & original "bubble cluster")
    - valid NY inspection until 01/13
    - factory 12 speaker set up
    - new pads & rotors (Fr. & Rr.) in January
    - new ball joints
    - newer OEM control arms
    - recent trans flush and filter change
    - new upper and lower intake gaskets
    - new oil pan gasket
    - new valve cover gasket
    - textured moldings
    - newer Front (KYB) & OEM Rear struts (had 5K when installed)
    - new ATE aluminum 22mm master cylinder
    - brake system bled through w/ genuine VW/Audi DOT-4 fluid
    - new OEM VW brake booster
    - new passenger side front wheel bearing

    LIGHT MODIFICATIONS:
    - de-badged trunk except for OEM European black "VW" center badge
    - Corrado leather steering wheel
    - winter cammo headliner
    - smoked tails (3 Depot, 1 Hella)
    - "Joey Modded" head lights w/ "city lights"
    - "pure white" LED license plate lights
    - ghetto textured bumpers
    - OEM European single tone horn
    - Neuspeed P-flow filter and heat shield

    - OEM GLX muffler
    - Girling 54 front brake upgrade
    - Neuspeed VR front springs (1.6" drop)
    - rear lowering springs (uncertain of make) ...if I remember correctly (1.25" drop"
    - red buttoned e-brake handle (not OEM)

    NOT SO GREAT
    - will need new tires (these hold air, but I wouldn't drive too far on them)
    - p/side vent is missing (1) of the little illuminated icons
    - glove box needs a new handle/latch (been that way since we got the car, PO installed a magnet "latch")
    - OEM 3-bar grill is zip-tied (top clips are broken)
    - some dents & dings: driver door, trunk lid (it IS almost 20 years old)
    - passengers fender is a primered '93 - early'95 OEM VW replacement (specific holes for clip in moldings)
    - Flash red hood
    - rust (not rot) on front lower d/side rear wheel arch
    - d/side rear upper arch was repaired somewhere along the line by a PO, Bondo is starting to crack
    - p/side upper frame rail was straightened (about a 3"-4" length)
    - rust starting to form at front of front floor pans
    - rockers/pinch welds were slightly pushed at some point before it was ours
    - cat is gutted (from a PO) and should be replaced
    - windshield is cracked and needs replacement (* may get done before sold, will be reflected in price if replaced *)

The history (that I have been told) on the car:
    - it is originally a FL car
    - second owner purchased for his mother-in-law. He had a house in NY and one in FL and drove it up to NY to use as a "station/work car."
    - 3rd owner (my friend) bought the car for his girlfriend at the time. He only pumped premium in it the entire year and a half she drove it and did all regular maintenance. She wasn't paying attention one day and kissed the back of another vehicle. Luckily, the other vehicle was just high enough to completely miss the bumper/frame rail. It did however require the replacement of the rad support, headlight, passenger's side fender and the straightening of the frame horn. It was slightly bent, but was straightened well and all lines up nicely.
    - We got this Jetta back in late November of 2011 when our friend/roommate moved, couldn't take his car with him and wanted to help us out. It was in a somewhat sad state of affairs, but for some reason we felt compelled to nurse it back to health. We had visions of a 5-speed swap and other modifications, but life dictates that we must sadly (and reluctantly) sell our early MKIIII. As you can see, a fair amount of time, money, labor and love has found its way into "Brian" from us and we'd love to see him go to a good, enthusiast home where his new owners will appreciate him for what he is and give him a good life. I will post A LOT of pictures in the next day or so as soon as I have the time to take them. PM or post with any interest or inquiries. Asking price is $2000 o.b.o

as you can see here, NO SUNROOF
