I have a 1999 VW Beetle and would like to convert from 5 speed to 6 speed manual transmission. Has anyone heard, attempted or even successfully done it. If so bring forth the information.

    Thanks

ya you can do the swap fine, you will need everything for the swap though (axles, tranny, shift cables, shift tower, clutch/flywheel, starter and maybe a transmission mount (s))

Yea its the same as doing it on any other mk4 basically.

We have "kits" for sale from cars we have parted which we can supply everything needed to do the swap.

The only catch on your car might be that you would also have to upgrade the bakes. Normally you can just change the axle or axle and spindle depending on what car it came from. But if you change the spindle on a 2.0 or TDI it requires upgrading the brakes as Im not sure if the axle will work in your spindle.
