The harness that connects to my drivers side fog is melted and burned. I want to replace it but I'm having trouble finding just the harness (or someone willing to cut it out from a part out). Is there any reason I couldn't get a two wire 9006 bulb connector from some other source/car and splice it in? Would this upset the computer?

    EDIT: Something like this...

According to the E-bay listing: "9006 HB4 HID XENON."

OP, that's not on you -- I know you just want the new connectors, and yes these would absolutely work (assuming they're decent quality).

The question of how you melted the existing wiring harness is a good one. If you don't know, you're likely to just have another failure.

But just another question... Is the existing connector burned, or just the wiring? Because if it's the wiring, why couldn't you just use the existing connector and repair the wire(s) by splicing?

Something must have shorted I'm guessing. The bulb went out and I I just got around to looking into it. When i disconnected the plug from the bulb the plug was charred and melted. Fortunately because I'm cheap, the bulb is still fine. I cleaned it up a bit and took care of the contacts so it's working now, but I'd still like to replace the whole thing as a permanent solution

You answered my question while I was writing it.

The fact that the connector is charred suggests to me there was a short or an arc at that location. I'd guess a bad connection with the bulb?

Yeah it's the connector, right around the contacts. I'm curious how it happened too, maybe the bulbs are poor quality? Maybe they leaked some water? The bulbs are yellow Nokya's so I can't vouch for the quality.

As for expecting another failure, for $9 I'm willing to take the chance that maybe the harness seal wasn't the best and it's not the bulbs. If it fails again, so be it and I'll take it from there. I'll get a picture later of the connector

Just saw this, and yeah that's what I'm guessing. Not sure from what though...
