So I finally got to meet the infamous "thetopdog" a.k.a The Car Lounge's latest supercar owner. Many people claimed he was just another kid claiming he bought a car that he never really had. But he does exist and he does have the car. I had met up with him two weeks ago and just had enough time to take a ride through Hollywood and into Beverly Hills in the Gallardo Spyder. Even in this affluent area the car still garners quite a bit of attention. We even had a guy in an Carlsson CLS and a guy in a '12 Mustang GT continually try to get us to race.
Unfortunately that was the highlight of my day since on the way home on the 101 South my car decided to blow a coolant hose. I quickly repaired it with a swiss army knife on the side of the freeway and drove it to the nearest gas station off the first exit to put water in it.
This past weekend TheTopDog and I met up once again, this time to do a photoshoot of the car. She was DIRTY so the first thing we did was head to the local coin wash and sprayed the dirt off. Then we started driving around. Upon realizing that the 101S was nothing but a giant parking lot we decided to stick to the streets which proved rather interesting since we drove through most of the ghetto area of LA on our way to the city of Vernon. TheTopDog got to see the real Los Angeles which he had never experienced before as he is a transplant from Poutine land. On our way through the hood we got lots of waves, thumbs up and people just staring at the car. We eventually made it to Vernon where I took a few pics and then I introduced TheTopDog to King Taco
On our way back to his home in Hollywood while stuck in a bit of traffic on the 101N we got asked to prom by a group of 4 girls...tempting the proposition was...
Then when we where one block from the parking garage where he keeps the car a guy jumped out of his Chevy Blazer which was stopped in front of us and begged us to let his mom take a pic with the car. So we did her one better we let her sit in it and take the pics. I'm sure that lady will be telling that story for ages.
But that's how TheTopDog is, he isn't your stereotypical obnoxious supercar owner. He's a really cool guy who's more than happy to share his car with others. All owners of really cool unique cars should be like him.
But enough of the blabbering here are the much anticipated pics of thetopdog's '06 Gallardo Spyder:

I love all cars, I just happen to own a few pieces of german crap at the moment.

to thetoptog (even though I feel silly calling him that rather than his real name). He really sounds like a genuine down-to-earth guy. If I ever find myself on the west coast, I know who I'm contacting. I'm sure my mom couldn't care less about sitting in it, but I sure wouldn't mind it.

Sounds like a nice guy
I think its cool when some one shares what he's worked hard for with others.

It's nice to see someone on this forum actually living the dream instead of scrutenizing absolutely every penny they have. Nice write up and awesome car!

One question, why does the car have dealer tags? To cover up his actual plate?

I was hoping for pics of the Lambo at King TacoIt's sort of a strange dream of mine to grab drivethrough McDonalds or Taco Bell with an exotic car.

As stupid as people act when I'm out in the GT-R, I can only imagine the shenanigans that car causes. Here's to him keeping his patience![]()

I'm even a tier down from you guys, and got thumbs up from a trio of kids (probably junior high / early high school age) riding their bikes on the sidewalk yesterday. You have to be pretty confident in yourself to be driving that level of car. It certainly is an interesting change of pace from being completely anonymous.

Our good friend "TheTopDog" once referred to having a Bentley CGT detailed as "A waste for a car like that," letting us all know how far beneath him a CGT is. God forbid anyone spend money to have their Bentley detailed.... what a waste, not like it's a Lambo or something.![]()
