I want to buy a Mk2 GTi 16v..

I am going to move be in Pensacola Florida for A-school after boot camp in about 10-ish weeks from now and have always wanted a mk2. If anyone is selling one in that area then i might be inclined to buy it as transportation while i'm there then make it my project car after. PM me if anyone has one that would want to sell around that time frame.

Whats your rating shipmate, I'm an ABF, but I struck out of deck to be one so never got to see pensacola., im hoping I make 2nd class this exam cycle. I recently got into an mk2 and be sure the previous person at least know the car well, unlike me I'm slowly finding that the previous owner just didn't know the car very well or maintaned it, it looks clean, but some things could've used attention, hope you find a good mk2. Post it in here when you find one.

Im starting as an E-3 For IT in the NAVY. I'm hoping to find one. I have seen some around dallas where i live at a good price it seems but i would like to buy one there so i don't have to ship the car down there. Otherwise i would just take my R32.. But i would totally rather be reppin the Mk2 gti in florida

OP, I went to A-school in pensacola as well, I'm a CTT and you should be at the same training command i went to. Not sure if the rules have changed much but you might not be able to drive for the 1st week or so (again that was 8 yrs ago not sure if its changed). Florida has a legit VW scene (except that you'll be more in floridabama...trust me you'll see lol) so finding a solid MKII should be no prob. check the Southeast region classifieds or the pensacola craigslist. besides that, good luck in basic, Great lakes sucks but once you get past all that crap, the Navy is pretty damn easy.

No worries, just keep your head on straight, be where you're supposed to be on time and stay out of trouble and you should be good. And if you get to go on a ship it can (and probably will) suck for a bit BUT it can also be a grea experience (I've been to over 10 different countries).

Oh and if you have problems finding one, you can always trade me your R for my GLI

I know how you feel on the word, Only time I'm called shipmate is when there something serious thats going on and not pleasent.
