    I recently replaced the plugs and wires on my 2001 Jetta 2.0. I was going to do the coil pack too, but the repair shop said that it was in good condition. This was around March. Recently I have noticed that at idle it feels like the car "hiccups" and will shake for a brief moment and the rpms will drop 200-400. It feels to me and my friend that this may be a misfire on one of the cylinders. I do not have any codes thrown now. But I replaced plugs and wires because I had a misfire in cylinders 2 and 4. I replaced it and the problem went away. I am at a loss on what it could be, I searched for similar problems but could not find it. Any tips would be appreciated Thanks.

    Try spraying your coil with spray bottle, it will miss or die if it is bad.

    Are you scanning with VCDS or a generic scan tool?

    I think this might be idle control moreso than a misfire. Remove the TV, clean it out real good, then re-install and to TBA with VCDS.

    Yes.

    TV = Throttle Valve
    TB = Throttle Body

    Same thing, different term. They commonly gum up and the ECU loses control over the target idle. Get a good scan first though.

    thanks guys, the coil was fine. Put in a new tank of gas and it cleared up, so I think it was a bad tank of gas. If it acts up again, I will scan it and check the throttle body.
