Recommend a older good alarm for me.

I have no interest in running down to a shop & dropping $600 for an alarm, just as I have no interest in running down to a shop to pick up a 800w amp for $800, when you can pick up a JL Audio 1000/1 for $300 and blow everything away, just as you can get a yester-years alarm for a 1/3 the price just because it was made in 2005 as opposed to 2012.

So with that in mind, there was a famous Viper alarm from the early 2000's everyone wanted and people even want till today, yet can't remember the #. Doesn't have to be a Viper, or all that fancy. Other then door locks, kill, and wanting to add a proxy sensor, I can't think of anything I really need unless there's some really kol/stupid awesome functions happening now-a-days.

I'm on the fence about those ~bulky (digital read out) key fobs.....don't know if I want to be pre-occupied staring at my key fob every 5 mintues to see if my cars been touched.

I have a Viper 691XV and Viper 791XV for the girls car. They both do two way paging. I think sonicelectronix has brand new alarms for cheap.

It all depends on how much you're looking to spend. You have to remember that when you reinstall alarms, most of the wires are going to have to be extended which might be expensive depending on the shop.

Thanks. I believe I had that 691XV ( <-Supposed to be a 690XV though ?) , never installed it as it was a pay back dept and sold it. Ironic...should'a maybe kept it.

Looks like Viper has moved on to a different series all together, 4 digit model 5000 series: 5900, 5901, 5902 and on and on.....talk about over kill on the volume of units.
