it's hard to make super low offset, extra wide wheels with max stretch look good on a car that isn't dumped.

H&R's or Bilsteins, I don't actually own any of these but I want the madness to stop!

I need this, tonight the OEM suspension let me down, I can take a turn faster and more stable on
my shi tty oem R32 suspension than with these things.

V2's only have height and "rebound" adjustment, and would like to have bump as well.

Would love to try the KW club sports, but heard they are pretty firm/uncomfortable.

So glad you posted in here, I have the same ones on order. Subbed for more pics of this setup.

Quick (stupid) question for the suspension literati:

Is there any product/way to get a more comfortable ride than stock?

I cannot get my wife to stop complaining, and she does have a point when it comes to larger/more abrupt bumps.....it ain't great. This car handles the small and sweeping stuff very well, but can be jarring over bad roads.

I don't want/can't drop at all because of my driveway. So I'd be looking for stock height, ideally with adjustability so that I can make it fun when I want to, cadillac when I need to. In car adjustability would be awesome.

    Cost isn't really a factor.

If it isn't obvious at this point, I haven't done any suspension work on any previous car (other than wheels).

Ok, dumb question. Will any coilover that works on the MKVI GTI work for the R? Looking at some H&R's but my coilover knowledge is limited, in fact not really coilovers so much as suspension in general.

It would likely bolt up, but the spring rates are different for H&R kits... weight difference in the cars. I would go the other way (R on GTI) but not GTI on R.

I just checked their website and they have the same product number for the GTI as the R. Should I not trust this information than? Thanks for the response BTW.

IMHO, I believe KW's like to leak fluid pretty easily, no less over time.
I can't count how many threads there have been with KW issues. SHS's

My last V3 set leaked like crazy new. I sent them to KW and they came back leaking even more
and more frequently. Was given back my money after several months of install, removals, instals,
    removals... Pretty done with KW.

Think I will just go with a good strut and some euro springs and call it done.

I have sold a lot of STs, and KW V1-V3s and have yet to have any problems.

In that case, I guess they are the same?! Do not get me wrong it would work regardless... just maybe a little soft for aggressive drivers. But perfect for many.

I opted for S4 coilovers on my A4 for the stiffer setup. And now I am upgrading to Stasis Motor sports, with 800# front and 1000# rears... booyah!

That setup sounds hardcore, haha! No, I'm not doing anything too drastic so I should be fine, thanks again for the help.

    Coilover manufacture: Bilstein

Coilover model: B16/PSS10 - P/N - 48.158176. This is the new part number for the mkvi/R with updated spring rates and dampening.

Ride Settings (Thread count, what is the dampening set on etc.): Dampening currently at 5F/6R. 4 threads in the front/7 rear.
    ride height is ~25.25 ftg

Ride comfort (1-10): 10. Adjustable dampening allows you to fine tune these to your liking. at 5, it's a bit firmer than stock, but absolutely a good ride. honestly doesn't feel like you're in a lowered car.

Quality (1-10): 10+ build quality is top notch, everything is booted. adjustments are easily done by large knobs while the wheels are on the car. ran these on my mkv as well.

Happy with decision? (Y/N, if no... why?): Without a doubt. easily the best money i've spent on the car (well, maybe the tires) the H2sport kit would have been amazing, but possibly a bit of overkill. i'm going to drive it to sowo as it sits and see how it feels at this height. might bring it up a turn or two (suspension travel is a good thing).

these coils don't go super low, so not for anyone who wants to dump their cars. max lowering is specified at 40mm.

    Picture of them installed:

i cannot recommend these enough to someone who wants a performance oriented coilover

i ended up going with neuspeed. can't remember the guys name...but super nice. we talked for a bit.

i tried to get a few of the vendors here to sell me a set. but they really didn't seem that interested (general lack of reply, or when i started asking about the specific part number...they stopped). i randomly looked on neuspeed's site and found them.

the newer part number is more expensive than the old one by a couple hundred dollars. you might be able to find the older model for a few hundred cheaper. but i did confirm with bilstein that the dampener and springs are both different than the old ones. i confirmed the dampener part numbers were different than the pss10s i had on my mkv gti.

i believe tire rack is also supposed to be carrying them. they just didn't have any in stock.

Is the dampening setting 5 in the middle? i.e. 1-10. Do these require a drop?

correct. 5 is dead middle. 1 soft and 10 is stiff.

since they are threaded, you can adjust the ride height to your liking.

Cool thanks! Presumably adjusting the height up gives you more wheel travel, right? Sorry if these are stupid questions.

correct. the benefit to using coils is the dampeners and springs are built to work as a set, so even with a bit of lowering you aren't going to beat the dampeners up.

I can't see all that great from that pic, so I don't think it's all that low, but do you get any tire rub in the turns?

Looks sweet and sounds like what I’m looking for. Have you taken yours on a track with these at all? If it still rides like stock, looks like that, and handles better on track - you may have just talked me into a pair of those Bilsteins!
