Either a late, late Thursday, or a very early Friday cruise to make it there.
This is a cruise and not a race. Only stopping for necessary stops like fuel, nourishment and rest room etc. And of course if things needs fixing since there will be a lot of VW's

UPDATE! Easier, shorter, less traffic to head WEST from the DC area for those coming from the north and take I 81 South VS. taking south 95

Geez Why so early? Your not going to miss anything Friday morning! I mean beating traffic and smooth sailing yes. But let's see what other options there are.

OK, there are a few fairly large groups leaving. But compared notes to a few years of travel history to SoWo, 95 isn't the best route.

There are 3 major ways to get there
I81 = 584 mi, 10 hours 2 mins In current traffic: 10 hours 13 mins I-81 S
I-81 S and I-40 W 600 mi, 10 hours 11 mins In current traffic: 10 hours 20 mins
I-85 S from the I95 S 589 mi, 10 hours 23 mins In current traffic: 10 hours 26 mins

That's why taking the 66 WEST to 81 SOUTH will be the fastest, and most direct route from the beltway area. So where to meet? TYSONS would be ideal. Easy off the beltway, close to 66, and also plenty of parking and gas stations to fill up before leaving.

We can meet in front of LL Bean. Large open lot, right off the 495 Exit on route 7.
