Thread: What does Launch Control and No Lift Shift actually do on an R32 ??

  1. 05-02-2012 10:10 PM #1
Customer car that Matt at UM UK tuned.

    Car specs:
    Mk4 R32
C30 Rotrex blower. (UM Rotrex kit uses C38 Blower)
    UM 550cc FI software
UM Dirty Launch Control / No Lift Shift

Does your R32 launch this hard?

    Until you flat shift

    -

We carried out some tests on a R32 turbo this week. Boost set to 1 bar and changing gear traditionally see's the intake manifold fall into vacuum. Using flat shift boost only falls 2~3 psi during shift.

Flat shift is being beta tested in TFSI cars and will be released as soon as I am happy with it. Adjustable launch control will follow shortly after.

Is there any reason you guys are doing a pure spark cut? Sure, it looks/sounds cool sometimes, but can be bad for turbine blades on a turbo car (been there done that), mufflers, and especially catalytic converters. For the street driver, it can obviously draw unwanted attention.

Cutting fuel alone is typically too slow for flat shifting, so maybe a combo spark/fuel cut would be nice for the discerning customer.

Ballpark pricing, please? Inquiring minds (that most likely do not have the cash to buy right away, and thus would not want to e-mail UM UK, as you instructed that those who do so be ready to make a purchase) want to know.

^This...sad but true. I'm a serious buyer (In about a year from now after the last tuition payment is made for my wife) I was hoping for some ball park pricing and just info about the kit in general to help aid in my FI decision

This would be my route but I can't afford a second mortgage right now

    This setup looks very impressive!

Any chance of a group buy?

~Correct, but having said that the car in the videos has none of the above fitted.

The option is already available, as described in the original post the video show's what we call the "Dirty" option. There is also a "Clean" version available which is the version that I personally prefer.

This thread was made to demonstrate launch control and flat shifting and show what it is actually like, it just so happens the caris fitted with a Rotrex, the 2 are not connected. Adjustable Launch control and flat shift is available on ME7.x in both clean and dirty formats. MED9.x will be available soon.
