So, I've won our tracks "Sport Compact" class championship 8 times, and finally decided to go after the "real cars" in Sportsman. I have every intention of winning this class too, and just thought I'd throw updates on here in case anyone cared.

This is the car (and me)...needless to say, people never expected it to be competitive against the muscle cars that usually dominate Sportsman.

I've managed to win the first two races of the season, and have a nice 52 point lead on second place. Hopefully I can keep it through the remainder of the season.

Very nice, thats a great looking trophy Rob. Do you still have the Caddy?
Are you thinking about dropping that 14.0 to 13.99 or under next year?

That pic is actually right after winning the championship in '08. The car still looks the same, and it's still usually dialed 13.97-13.99. The only thing I've done to it in 5 years (well, after putting a spool in the 3rd trans!) is oil, gas and tires.
I have a new body (still an 83, but without the sunroof) that's gonna start going together pretty soon and, hopefully, I'll throw the turbo on it when I swap everything over. Still not planning on any more than low 13's-high 12's though...don't wanna sacrifice consistency in the quest for lower ET's. Yet!

And, yes Repoman...I still have the Caddy, but it donated some parts to this one when I got it going, so the poor Caddy's been parked for 5 years now. If I ever find some extra $$ I'll get it back together...I HATE seeing it just sit like this!

      That's kinda personal isn't it??

Anyhow, RT's are usually .050 or better, and dial-in is usually within .01. Not the greatest on average, but I usually leave a little in the RT to step up when I feel I'll need it.

See if this works. 1st time run of the year...as you can see from the interior, this car's pretty beat! LOL

This one was the run I have in the 2012 ladder. Got the wrong info. on the ladder though, gonna have to change that!

Oh yeah...sorry about the rattle in the video...that's my "escape hatch"! Stupid flap I stuck on to cover the sunroof hole.

Well...race 3 of the season didn't exactly go to plan!
I had the car aligned Friday (it was toed out pretty badly!) and wasn't really sure where I'd end up with everything pointed straight again. My two time runs were both junk because I was spinning so bad off the line. After the 2nd one I finally got the bright idea to check tire pressures (I know...stupid not to check 'em before I ran) and OOH!!! They set 'em at 35PSI for the alignment! Dropped 'em back to my usual 14/15PSI just in time for eliminations.
Since I had no usable data from the time runs, I just went with my usual 13.97 dial to start, then missed 2nd gear and ran a 15.XXX. Luckily, the other guy red-lighted, so I got REALLY lucky on that one. 2nd round I stuck with the dial, actually left good (1.929 60') and hit my shifts. Looked back just as I grabbed 4th gear and saw the guy was WAY behind, so I just lifted...ended up STILL running a 13.887 even though I hardly even used 4th...night over for me!
Oh well...I'll come back next race and (hopefully!) get back on track. The only good thing is, the guy in 2nd place in the points went out in the first round, so I still gained another 10 on him.

Here's a link to the Sportsman class points if anyone wants to take a look. I'm #202.
