So I have been tracking my R regularly for the last couple of years, and decided with my r comps maybe i should keep an eye on engine vitals..

I was looking on ecs tuning and found some New South Performance gauges. I was thinking about these 3 gauges.. Oil Pressure, Oil temp, and water temp.

Now my question.. When i buy these gauges do i need anything else for the install? or is it a complete set?

      Thanks,

      Erik

If you have an Android phone, you can use what I use:

Torque App which connects to an OBD2 bluetooth transmitter

Shows everything you'd need to know exactly as the ECU sees it. Unfortunately, I cant seem to get Oil temp to work (but I think that is because of my OBD2 adapter)

You can also look at/clear fault codes and log your laps as well. Really handy!

That's a cool device, but unless you've added your own oil temperature sensor (unless European R32s have them, unlike US R32s) , it'll never be able to display the oil temperature.

I've been thinking of using some Podi gauges - http://www.podi.ca/Gauges.aspx -> second gauge from the bottom displays any of the following 2 measures:

      boost pressure
      air fuel ratio
      oil pressure
      oil temperature
      EGT
      IAT
      water temperature
      fuel pressure
      voltmeter

They have the option to also buy the senders when purchasing the gauges.

      pic for reference:

There's a massive variety of gauges + complete custom designs here: http://www.zada-tech.com/

Send them an email I'm sure they could help - I believe they can even do a display that will go in place of your clock that will match the existing clock (and display the time too) and then any other functions you want + sensors etc.. !

      EDIT, this is it: http://www.zada-tech.com/product/mul...ge-oem-looking

      Hope that helps.

That's some cool stuff there, very helpful considering my biggest problem is where to put gauges.. Very cool

Can the water temp and oil pressure be piggybacked off the OEM senders?

There is an OEM oil pressure switch, not a sensor. Therefore, to support an oil pressure gauge, you'll need to add your own oil pressure sensor.

Graeme86 and bills webspace has a nice write up on how to install that oil sensor.
