    So, to date:

-TONS of kale. It will not stop growing, and is exhibiting hostile takeover behavior on its neighboring veggies. I have to go out and cut it down again tonight.
    -Snap peas are done.
-Beans just NOW starting to come on. Stoked about that.
    -Carrots coming along nicely.

-Pulled up the first round of lettuce and planted #2; it's about 8" tall.
-Tomatoes are putting out a lot of foliage, but I bet I won't see fruit until late in August.
-Harvesting blueberries from the bushes I planted 2 summers ago.

    -Had a great raspberry season!
-Black currant is starting to bear fruit. Can't wait to make more cassis liqueur this year
    -Dwarf apple trees are fruiting.

Maybe next year will be better.

The Thai pepper plant I have in a pot, however, is producing like crazy and the herbs in the window box are doing well.
Sounds like you need a high nitrogen fertilizer like Miracle Gro. The sprayers that hook up to the hose work very well.

    Sounds like my April garden.

Snap peas and kale have been gone for months down here in the South.

speaking of the south, Smitty what can you plant for late season down here?

I'm pulling out some cucumbers and pole beans because a possum gets to everything before me. But with this heat I don't know what to put in it's place.

Hard to say what could work if you're having critter problems.

I just planted squash and zucchini seeds a couple weeks ago to hopefully replace some of the carnage wrought on me by squash borers.

I've never had a lot of luck with Fall crops. I've planted in September, but they never seem to do well until the following Spring with the exception of lettuce and greens. Anything with a long harvest time like Brussels sprouts isn't ready until March and dies shortly after that from the heat.

Personally, I'd try to get rid of the critters.

Given where we both live, I'm not surprised. We haven't had the best growing season this year to date. I think it's questionable whether I'll get ripe tomatoes this year or not...August will have to be consistently warm/hot.

critters is at defcon 2... I'm pulling out my plastic fence that kept the freaking cats from using the garden as a litter box that has holes chewed in it now and replacing it with metal chicken wire. Not sure how I want to deal with the possum, next door neighbor is pretty nosey and limits my options.
