Thread: How many TT RS owners have their stock 19" wheels rubbing?

  1. 05-03-2012 01:51 PM #1
    See this thread:

On non-sport mode the stock 19" wheels/tires rub in the wheel well... Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

The rubbing could be a non-issue, but I think it shouldn't rub since eventually the carpeted insulation in the wheel well could get worn through or perhaps create some wear on the tires.

I've only experienced rubbing on the fender liners while on the Nürburgring in very hard corners with dips and bumps. I've only driven in sport mode on the Ring, so I don't know if it happens when not in sport mode. I'll try it next time I'm up there.

I've never had it happen on the streets.

I've experienced the rubbing on the street, but not on the track in sport mode.

I've never driven in normal mode; I don't like the way it drives.. In sport mode I've had it scrub when cornering hard..

a mid-apex at ~ 82 mph, sport on, as an example.

4 track days w/o any rubbing in sport. maybe people's rubbing issues are running hard on streets in standard suspension?

either way, i voted no issues.

No rubbing on the street or on the track with stock tires (Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, 255/35-19). Current street tires are 2/3" taller than the stock tires, and still no rubbing, but I don't drive aggressively on the street (Conti DWS, 245/40-19).

Might be a good idea to post the tire brand/model for those having rubbing issues and those who are not. Some tires of the same size may run a little wider than others.

    Factory/OEM/Stock Toyo 19" 255/35 19" Tires here. I think they're Proxes T1 Sport tires.

265 35 19 blizzaks on oem wheels will rub if you fill the trunk then either accelerate hard or corner more than mildly

i heard the 255's can rub during really hard cornering, haven't tested this theory yet
