Rear shock parts question?

I just picked up an H&R cup kit and am wondering if I am missing parts.I know these wouldnt have come with the kit and would have come with the OE but when I removed the rear shocks and put in the new ones I noticed that there was not a metal retainer bearing type cap that I believe would sit on top of the spring and between the bump stop and the bushing fixed into the body like there is in the front. Is this missing or non existent. Also all the shock posts and bearings are sticking up a an inch or more on all four.
