Thread: exhaust manifold c-clamps

  1. 05-04-2012 01:48 PM #1
    hello
i checked my c-clamps, one of them is solid but the other one can be rocked a little left and right.
also they have a little belly, as if they are too stretched.
is it suppose to be this way?
or maybe i should get the special tool and compress them?
    thx

I'm not sure how they are supposed to be, but GAP sells new ones for $5 a piece

i got new ones from gsf and they snapped right away when i tried to work on them with the u-shape clamp, so i put back the original ones.
doesn't anybody know if they suppose to be loose or fit tight as hell?

I would assume tight as hell because people that dont't have the proper tool pry then put with a screw driver and they go flying.

I'm actually replacing my downpipe on my mk2 today that has the clamps. I bought new ones from GAP. They don't sell junk parts. I'm going to assume these won't snap but I'll let you know.

I don't know of a tool that squishes them.
You might be able to squish them some other way,..
but the tool is meant to spread them for installation.
