Thread: Door locks not working on my son's '99 Passat

  1. 05-04-2012 03:10 PM #1
We have been trying to solve a ongoing problem with the central locking system on a '99 Passat Wagon. We replaced the CCM (filled with water and shorted out), repaired the ground and checked the wire harness. After all this most of the components (interior lights, sunroof, gauges, windows, etc) are working fine - but not the door locks. Our first test showed no errors (but the doors and gas door didn't work). after a couple days driving, we are just getting a few errors. The log follows:

I don't know what it takes to "code" the used CCM, but we have the VAG-COM Pro to do it.

The coding looks okay but I suspect this is not the proper module based on the color codes of the 4 window modules, (61 and 63) which do not match like the following random examples.

If this vehicle uses the center console gas filler button the wiring is likely corroded. You can use measuring blocks to confirm signals from the switches into the module.

Thanks very much! We are going to need to learn about measuring blocks, and will look at the connections again. When we bought the used CCM we only looked at the main part number, not the version (61) extension, guess we learned something new today - but this was my first VW in 40 years...

I've looked at every used CCM on eBay and not one has "63" in their number. I'm wondering if this is some type of firmware update? Can anyone shed some more light on this??

I hate to be ignorant, but what is "AEB". I looked through the log and didn't see it...

Yes, it has the 1.8 Turbo engine with Tiptronic (Duh - I remember now - as I said before the last VW I owned was 40 years ago when they put the engine in the trunk). I have found a CCM 1J0 959 799 AJ, supposedly with the 63 code, guess we'll see if that works.

Well we did find a CCM 1J0-959-799 with the right 63 Zentral-SG Komf. 0001 code (a brand new one! coded properly) and it didn't make any difference. So we are back trying to sort this out... The ONLY thing giving us a problem is the door locks. (well except for the rear radio speakers).

Post a new scan with the matching module installed and let us know if the measuring blocks are switching for the windows.
