I can only hope someone immediately called 911 at least 10 seconds after he got hit. As a skateboarer for 12 years, I can't even blame the driver so I hope they didn't get at him. The dude in the street's responsibility was to make sure situations like this does not happen by waving down the driver to get him to slow own or stop while homeboy is getting his trick done...or he should have told him to wait until the road is clear. Either way, it is what it is, seen this happen many times before.

The skating video was not cool. I used to ride BMX so I can relate. Even by yourself nothing like this should ever happen. The guy and his friends should have been looking out for cars. If the traffic was heavy go to the spot later or find another handrail.

That's just what we do. If we're hitting a rail or a stair set an it leads to a street, then so be it. Again, like I said, that's what the kid in the street is doing there. His duty is to make sure the road is clear before the skater hits the obstacle. Also, if bails on landing, he can stop him from rolling into the street. For the second point, that's what led to this accident...the spotter wasn't doing that.

That was terrible. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I broke my arm in a low speed motorcycle accident, covered in abrasians and right as soon as I finished sliding I got up, RAN to the bike because the throttle was pegged and the ninja 250's don't have rev limiters. Then somebody sitting out on their lawn chair yells at me, 'are you okay?' Took me probably 15 seconds before I realized I had broken both bones on my left fore arm. I'm good as new now save for some scarring, but man videos like that just make me cringe. As I was sliding on the ground I remember dragging my helmet against the ground to slow myself faster. Sometimes I have these nightmares where I relive that situation but I wasn't wearing my helmet and I can literally feel my face being peeled off.

Probably expected to have fun on someones bike without any problems at all.

I can say though that looking at that video, she could have had on a full set and suffered the same fate. She's not rashed. It looks like an impact cleanly severed the limb at the knee. Unfortunate no doubt but you cant blame that one on gear.

FWIW, I agree that motorcyclist should wear appropriate gear. I cant say that I wear everything I should every time I ride but i get your point.

I did/do in LA and TX, even during the summer, but mostly because I have watched too many friends suffer after not wearing proper gear.

i feel ya... ive had my share of falls as im sure you have as well. that video is a little on the extreme side though. she probably didnt feel a thing til well toward the end of the video. im mad no one tried to actually help her. they should have been making an improvised tourniquet and trying to keep her calm and still, could have covered the limb up at least. i think she freaked out when she saw her part beside her.
