Here’s a cool image of the final F-22 aircraft (Air Force serial number 10-4195) delivered to the U.S. Air Force on May 2, 2012.

The aircraft will be assigned to the 3rd Wing at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JEBR), Alaska, where F-22s already equip the active duty 90th and 525th Fighter Squadrons and the 302nd FS, an Air Force Reserve Associate squadron.

The photograph is particularly interesting because, according to the EXIF data shown by Flickr, it was taken with a Hasselblad H4D, a high-end professional, costly (depending on the model the price range is comprised between 27,000 and 44,000 USD), medium format DSLR camera, that is famous for its super-high resolution images.

The most expensive camera for the final most advanced (and troubled) stealth fighter plane ever built.

You say that as if it's surprising. The military has frequently been at the forefront of methods to record video and audio, even just for documentation. I can certainly see the value in having very high dollar, high resolution photography equipment for military photography. Sure, this one is just a glamor shot, but I'm sure the press core or whatever they are called do a lot of photo shoots that result in images that are closely studied with a lot of thanks given for high resolution.

Or... hey, it's the feds. They spend money like water flows downhill.

Either one of those two possibilities is valid.

I had friends who were AF Public Affairs and photography, and they all shot with Canon or Nikon DSLRs.

Yeah, go to any of the service's .mil photo pages... Check the info on the files - they're all older DSLRs.

They're not going to trust a junior enlisted kid with a $40,000 camera.

I would reply, but I'm feeling a little light-headed and dizzy. I need to go outside and get some air...
It seems the government is currently saying, "While we're conducting this unspecified, unwarranted surveillance, we're totally thinking about how to not violate the 4th Amendment that we're currently violating. Because terrorism."

Well, officially you are responsible because you are too distracted by your inability to breathe to post properly.

Yeah, and don't run into any trees and then not remember it later so you can be blamed for hitting the trees but not credited with saving the post.
