One of the neatest things I like about the Phaeton is the way that it would lower itself after locking the vehicle. The last few times I have gone out with the car and shut it off, I noticed it stays at the same height and does not lower. Does anyone know a possible cause for this? Thanks!

I have never noticed my Phaeton lower itself.

    According to VW SSP 275:

    Actions of Air Suspension
    After “Ignition Off”

    System Response to
    Immediate Level Changes

After “ignition off,” the Level Control
    System Control Module J197 remains
    active for approximately one minute.
During this time it can execute suspension
    adjustments to compensate for changes
in payload, provided that sufficient pressure
is available in the pressure accumulator.
The Level Control System Control Module
J197 always remains active for one minute
until no further door hood, or luggage
    compartment lid operations are detected.

    I hope it helps.

I've noticed the system 'correct' itself while parked on an incline or such - but not while parked inside the garage - as is mainly leveled and flat(!). I do like the fact that the system also adjusts itself depending on the load being carried... Great stuff

When I park inside my garage, which is flat, I notice that when coming out of the car and locking it, it hisses as air is released. However I have not paid attention to whether is raises o lowers.

Mine (Euro height, ie 1-inch lower than NAR) does not lower after locking.

After the wake period that Gabriel mentioned, the SSP says it makes 3 further corrections of height when switched off. These are at two hours, five hours and 10 hours after switching off, but depend on having sufficient compressed air still in storage.
