Cup holder![]()

Hey everyone, I'm new around here and have yet to find a post about this but basically I was wondering what you all use to hold your phone in your cars? I have a cheapo clip that attaches to the windshield but it is really an annoying reach.
Let's see why you've got!

It seems from the site its a basic mount setup, but what is holding it exactly, I am sure I am over thinking this but just trying to get a better idea from an owner of the product.

The proclip has a clip mount that slides between the stereo trim and dash, keeping it there without any permanent mounting. Works well, stays put.

Yeah I'm starting to really use the cup holder much more than this holster. It is just obnoxious... But at the same time the cup holder isn't the best place for how often I use the gps haha

I got the Mountek CD slot mount for my son's car, a 2010 Jetta 2.5L gasser. It really is in a great location if you actually want to use the phone in the car, virtually hands free. For the Garmin nav unit, I got a pedestal type mount for in the dash tray in the Jetta. I think the nav is also in a great location, but one not available to us in the MKVI.

I'd say it isn't absolutely rigid, but I found it was certainly secure enough for using the touchscreen on the iPhone or iPod in my case for the testing I did. I'd imagine it is at least as good, probably better than most vent clips. The ProClip that locks behind the radio looks like it should be more rigid, but I've never tried the ProClip. As far as location, in the GTI MKVI or my son's Jetta MKV, I can't imagine it being much better than the Mountek CD slot mount. It puts the phone right where you need it and close enough to easily touch and see. I have to admit, however, after checking the link I am curious about the ProClip that locks behind the radio.

Here's ver 1.0 of the iPhone/ iPod dock I designed and built.
Currently working on ver 2.0 as I am replacing the AVIC D3 to Pioneer's AppRadio.

Cupholder. But if absolutely necessary to have it in line of sight I set up a couple binder clips that I can clip to the vent to hold my iPhone.
I based it off this: http://lifehacker.com/5747897/how-to...ffice-supplies
