So yesterday I was driving along and all the sudden i had a massive loss of power. Popped the hood when i stopped and i saw my air filter had fallen off and was sitting in my rain tray. Long story short, PO wrapped a sock around the intake very short intake pipe 'cause it was rubbing the strut tower. Long story short... i ended up with a sock sucked into my turbo. I felt like this and other people knew it by the words i chose to use. Anywho, my question is more about inside the engine. I was probably around23-2600 rpms as it happened right as i was shifting when it happened and i shift early when i daily. Some fins in the turbo are bent pretty bad, it makes a wretched noise when it starts to make boost, but bearings and such are fine. Can a significant amount of sock be in my engine? it didnt look too torn up, just twisted up, and it looks like what got torn up got stuck in the fins. Im replacing the turbo so thats not a big deal, im just wondering if its worth it to pull the head off and see if everything is ok. Any input would be wonderful.
    Thanks

what got past the turbo will be caught in the intercooler...and the small stuff that got past the intercooler would just be eatin up the engine. i dont think itd be anything to worry about, just replace the turbo and clean out the boost pipes and intercooler

once i saw my filter off, i felt like an idiot for not doing that earlier since its just a p.o.s. autozone plastic pipe. so much fail. good reason to upgrade though
