I have a 2009 Passat Komfort sedan. I bought it used and the original window sticker was not included. Do I have leather or leatherette? The seats have small holes in them in rows. here's a pic (Sorry it's so large, but I thought you'd need to see the seats close up):

I searched the forum and I now know there was no leather option in 2010...but how about 2009?

    Thanks!

Leatherette for sure, in 2009 and 2010 in the States, the Passats only came in leatherette.

It is V-Tex, which is Volkswagen's name for their leatherette. Do not worry, it is top grade material, which looks and feels like real leather. It is what I have in my car.

Mercedes Benz sells many cars with MB-Tex (their leatherette) interiors. It is similar to the VW material.

I have the same seats in my 06 Passat, the original sticker from the factory states that the seats are Leather, but I'm pretty sure its a synthetic leather like the others are saying, its great all the same. I treat it like real leather and use Meguiar's Rich Leather Wipes every once in awhile and it gives it a nice shine, not sure if it helps maintain the material but it doesn't seem to be hurting, so I'll keep doing it.

According to the sticker, your car SHOULD have real leather seats. If they are V-Tex, I wonder if someone changed the seats sometime during your car's life. This is assuming the sticker was correct for the car when it was built.

The sticker will often say leather seats even if the car has synthetic. That doesn't really meant anything. Also notice how it says "no charge" next to black leather. If they were real leather you would definitely see a monetary value associated with it.

OP has his answer. Let's let this thread die

see package #2 contents....that's where you pay for leather, however it is only for the seating surfaces only

Megatronian--you do have real leather, they are the comfort seats, unless someone has changed them.

VW will never say there is leather in the car if it's leatherette. They will list it as V-tex, or leatherette. In fact, I dont think any automaker does. MB calls it MB-Tex and BMW simply calls it leatherette. In the case where the car comes standard with leatherette, but a package replaces the leatherette and adds leather they will list the leatherette in the standard features and then will list the leather in the packages/options. The standard features list specifies 'standard unless replaces by other packages/options'

SDBirdman--the reason there is 'no charge' for black leather is because he was charged for it under Package 2. They are not going to double charge.
