We’ve all been watching this one closely. Here’s what we know: Subaru and Toyota have teamed up to build an unprecedented, driver-focused sports car that puts lightweight and balance over horsepower. It’s about driver involvement instead of numbers, and so far it’s garnered universal praise. But for regular drivers, how can it live up to the hype?

    ...
There’s been this resurgence of pure driver’s cars in the last two years or so, and it’s fantastic, but it’s only been from the top. The Porsche Boxster Spyder/Cayman R twins are lauded as all-time greats, BMW’s 1M takes a back-to-basics approach and shows there may be hope for BMW, and even the Ford Mustang Boss 302 brings serious handling performance to the everyman GT car. Now, the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S starts with the same goals as the cars listed above, but starts at $25,000. Seeking out a pure driving experience in a modern car is no longer just a rich man’s game.
Full disclosure: Kevin's a friend, but he also tracks his car pretty frequently, so he's a pretty good example of a non-professional driver that has some good performance driving experience. Also, he's a pretty solid photographer, so I figure the photos would be appreciated

They recently had a NJ Manuf. plated BRZ locally at a dealer but I missed it.
Buy your little enthusiast a Ferrari bike from me.

Not sure if it's unprecedented...the Miata has been stressing lightweight and balance over HP since NA.

I'm really liking that color/wheel combo. I'm also starting to see a lot of 240z vibe in the BRZ.

I got over the less than stellar dash pretty quick. And honestly, as low/mid-end Japanese dashboards go, its not really bad at all.

Im excited abiut this car. Pbly going for BRZ(vs FR-S), but still on fence pending more info and test drives.

A boxer 4 FR is pretty much unprecedented, afaik, and I wouldnt be surprised if the level of purposeful engineering in this car was more than the miata. Plus miata is a roadster/convertible. This is hard top coupe, the way sports cars should be.
