I was chilling in my hotel this morning watching the World Hockey Championships in Helsinki. Fast paced exciting hockey with lots of room for creative exciting offensive rushes, great passing and not many broken plays.... made me realize that the smaller north American ice is ow the problem with hockey.

The NHL playoffs have been a snore feet this year ( with the exception of the penguins/ flyers series)

I think the game has gotten so fast and the checking so disciplined it's UNBEARABLE to watch. Super tight checking 1 goal games .... if I wanted to watch soccer I would watch soccer...

of course there's no way the NHL will rectify this because making he rinks wider to Olympic size would lose them too much revenue from lost ice level seats.

Probably not a big topic round here but I maybe a few hockey fans here who care to respond...

The Olympic sized rink definitely changes the style of game, but I couldn't disagree more about the playoffs being boring.

    It's incredible that the West will be a 6 v. 8 seed
and the East has the potential to be a 6 v. 7 seed in the conference finals.

This has been more exciting than in years past.
