Been reading if you dump your car on coilovers your axle might break? Is this true and how does this happen?

yes they will break quicker. Because when you lower it the angle of the axle changes and was not built to take that angle. If it breaks buy a new one. simple as that
All mk4s smell a bit like crayons/candles. All mk3s smell like hot plastic and crayons. All mk2s smell like water damage, and all mk1s smell like mold and electrical fires.

Why would anyone take a dump in their car? How would you even wipe?

Depends. If you lower it 2-3 inches you will be fine. If you "Dump it" (3 inches or more) It puts your axles at a akward upward angle and increases the wear. Most likely they will click, then the boot rips. Rarely do they break. Sorry about all the smart responses, but a question like this brings all of the flamers out of the woodwork.

i came from owning 3 mk4's and now have my first mk3. One thing i love about mk3s is if you need something like a axle just go to your local junk yard

90% of this information is incorrect. This is why there is such an epidemic of kids not knowing what the hell they are talking about people who have no idea what they are talking about spouting incorrect info.

Yeah I'm noticing there's a lot of rude people out here I'm just curious you know looking for some good info bit people always have something smart to say, I have lowering spring on my car now which is about 2 inches all around I believe but I would want to get maybe 3 to 3.5 have vr6 lip so makes it look somewhat more aggressive from the front.

Ironically junkyard axles are the best. 99% are oem. 98% are good and just need new rubber/grease. (even if they are not torn, to be safe) They are already broken in, yard axles will love you long time. I would stay away from axles with torn boots, chances are it's already contaminated/scratched.

Yes they can wear out faster from lowering. The biggest issue, other than bind discussed below, is that the old rubber at an extreme flexed angle will tear, and contaminate inside with debris/sling grease in bay. So when you lower it, use new axle boots inner and outer!! Tie rod boots too because they probably need it if never done.

Yes it depends how much it is lowered. The only thing that will kill it mechanically, other than the usual +-15 years of wear and tear, is bind. The axle does not care how extreme the angle is, as long as it is not extreme enough to bind and the current angle is within operational ranges. Axles are made to work perfectly in any operational direction within spec. I don't know the exact angles, but you can only go so far until bind. If you've seen most car's here, that's pretty low. Some super lowers raise the sub-frame to get better geometry. I want to tackle this myself one day with a beater mark 3.

Basically. Get some yard axles good and rebuild with new rubber/grease. Replace front wheel bearings, and any seals gaskets you remove. Depending on how well the axle comes out, you may need to replace the axle spline from beating it. To prevent this bang it with something that will give. I've had success with an aluminum bat striking wood taped to the axle spline. Replace all suspension bushings and sub-frame mounts. Add racelands because you are out of money and they are a quality built product. Lower it. Done.

Or I could have posted a 2 line troll post like "this is why I don't come here etc etc." Buncha ninny's. Well good. Gtfo. People who want to help and need help will stay.

Yet you don't provide any correct information. This is why no one likes to come in the forums. Ass hats like yourself bashing any information and not providing anything.

Oh and the clever one liners you f*ck tards come up with.
