You can do it on military pay, I've built 2 VW's in the past 5 years on E5/E6 pay...

manifold back exhaust has been proven to lose power unless you get headers and the hp increase isn't much.

I have it all except the 1 & 2 and I have lightweight rotors and rear seats removed for more weight reduction. The weight reduction really helps. I've shed like 180lbs.

If you want a solid 0-60, using the launch control @5000 kills it!

I only timed myself once before I had the cams and I did a 4.9 (0-60mph) and a 2.05 60 foot, I let off close to 60 since I didn't have a lot of room.

I'll try and get some new numbers tomorrow when I take the car to get the belt tensioner checked, I'd like to see how the cams have effected my old time.

1)manifold back exhaust with no cats and no res
    2)lightweight pulleys
    3)shrick cams
    4)mishimoto lightweight radiator
    5)lightweight wheels
    6)intake
    7)dsg and ecu tune
    8)haldex

I would love to see the 0-60 time compared to stock. I am not too interested in horsepower gains knowing it wouldn't be much. If I had a few grand laying around, I would do this build.

The radiator isn't a power adder, but the VR6 and DSG combo sure run hot.

I don't think anyone said the radiator is a power adder... I referenced it has being light weight, and I agree that it will help your motor run cooler.

Cams + high flow cats and headers are next on my list. I have illusions of one day boosting my R32 but realize it might be best if I don't and save the big power for something I'm not driving everyday. Or if I ever get another car and turn the R into a real toy.

Either way, ~250awhp + more power up top + R32 sounding like a ****ing monster is more than enough for me. I think taking the R onto the dragon and the surrounding roads up there makes me realize that this car is maybe ~50HP or so away from being perfect from factory and adding on another 200-300 may be a bit much for my tastes. For now anyway, lol.

I was looking into headers shortly after I got the forge exhaust... Yeah, no go there, LOL! But then found out that you really don't get anything from headers at all, so seemed kinda pointless... I'd have to agree though, right about where I'm at now makes me happy... I can maybe pull a little more out of her, but I think I'll be happy with it as is for the most part...

On another note, does anyone know if there is anyone who has done a 3.6L swap? Me and my tech were talking about it yesterday...

alright, brought the car to work to go by the suspension shop. I got a chance to run 2 0-60's using PocketDyno+:

    Max Accel: 0.73 G's
    Max Power 281hp

    60' = 2.08
    0-60mph = 4.31

not bad, looking forward to getting a run on the dyno next week...

DSG launch @5000 really helps to get that low of 0-60. If you get it right you'll get a front wheel chirp and you're gone, get it wrong and it slips the clutch a lot.

    Where so cheap?

And for the original thread, look up PowerDubs, he was doing this, and gave in and got FI, basically it cost way too much for very little gains
