To answer your question, Yes. You will need wheel adapters. Question, Why would you want to do that?

It's nice to be in a car that stands apart from the crowd.

GLI's are rare enough that when I see a car that I call the "lowest common denominator" (i.e. something that "John Everyman" would drive) it makes me happy I have such good taste.

Perhaps that's being a little cocky / snyde but the GLI is one sweet machine.. almost like being in an Audi (another set of cars that stands apart from most cars)

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

    NO!

You NEVER want to use adaptors on a wheel with a smaller bolt pattern than stock! Your car has five lugs to support the weight of the vehicle on the wheels. Going from five to four will unnecessarily stress the wheels and adaptors.

DUMBASS! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS THE FUTURE GENERATION OF VOLKSWAGEN OWNERS! FUCKING DUMBASSES!

It doesn't apply to just this generation of VW owners, it applies to this generation... period.
