i was wondering if any of you guys have any more info about ticket pricing for Austin, TX F1 grand prix??

i've received an email from a company that is putting tickets up for sale, but i was shocked at how much they are.

first of all they are selling the seats for a WHOLE season and the cheapest seats are around $2000 or so; well what about people that are outside USA and only want tickets for F1 grand prix only, not for the whole season??

will they be putting up tickets for sale just for the NOV F1 race?? if so how much will they be??

if anybody has more info about this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm actually registered with the Race Track's website, and I receive e-mails regularly about construction status and hotel deals for the race weekend. But I haven't received any news on actual ticket sales yet, nor prices.

Not doubting you, but it sounds fishy to me.

    Ok.

The website I registered with links to theses as well, but refers to them as "Paddock Club" and "VIP" tickets. They arent even real ticket sales, just reservations. General ticket sales have still not started, which is why I didnt get an e-mail notification.

    For reference: http://f1unitedstatesgp.com/

The tickets for sale on the COTA site are PSL (Permanent Seat Licenses) This type of ticket is huge in professional sports. You buy the rights to the seat(s) via an annual fee and then promise to buy tickets for every event via a season pass. This pass is normally a discounted rate over what the general public will pay.

As an example: I pay $1500 per year for Carolina Panther PSLs. The Panthers collect 100% of these funds. Then I am offered season tickets to the 8 home games at a discounted rate; $35 per seat per game versus $55 that the public would need to pay. The season ticket proceeds are thenn split between the team and the NFL.

So back to the COTA. The F1 tickets are not yet on sale, but should be early this summer. I bet pricing is on par with Canada.

Ticket prices for Austin GP are more expensive than Monaco gp:

The top seat in the only permanent grandstand at Circuit of the Americas, on the front straight, is $1,250, and that does not include the $5,500 PSL or parking. The least expensive seat at Monaco, in the “bronze” section, is $303. At Circuit of the Americas, it’s $375 in the turn 15 grandstand, and that does not include the $1,500 PSL.

If those prices are indicative of the GA tickets, which will apparently be going on sale this summer, prices, you can count me out. The cost of flying to TX, hotel and high ticket prices are slowly pricing this out of reality.

Yup not to mention the cost of the hotel will be increased sky high too! I looked into Montreal this year - that was the reason I decided to stay home.

Greed sure is a thirsty mistress!!! We had been making plans to go -- not now. Being a sole provider for our family and owning a thirsty Touareg just doesn't equal spending two house payments to watch a race. Maybe DINKs are more their target market. If I had that much to spend on racing I'd be down at PPIR on open lapping days!

Just shifted my vacation earlier in the year - I'm gonna go climb a mountain. One of the 14ers up here. When I'm on the top I'll have a few special thoughts for our friends setting the prices.
    Peace!

General admission is usually the way to go, F1.com usually posts up ticket info when they become available. F1 isn't cheap but it shouldn't empty your pockets either.

You just have to book your hotel super early - as soon as the schedule is announced, basically.

Luckily for me a good friend lives in Montreal so I'm staying with him.

Normal Non-PSL tickets are available NOW! As long as you signed up for their newsletter, you probably got an email today with a link to the pre-sale.

I just got tickets for the Turn 2 grandstand. Can't wait until November.

    me too....can't wait...
i haven't bought tickets yet; which grand stand would you guys think would be best to sit?? without paying too much...

also a question for the local people, which hotel would be BEST to book??
i'm from canada and i'll be flying there.
i want to book a hotel (reasonable price of course), but i dont' want to be TOO far from teh airport as well as the track.
i guess the best scenario would be to book a hotel kind of middle distance from the hotel and airport.

any valuable ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.

I bought my tickets today. Sitting high at the turn 12 grandstand. It will be the end of the DRS zone. Hopefully it will have sight lines to turn 1. If so I think they'll be some of the best seats in the house. Thank God I booked the hotel room 2 months ago. It's ugly for hotel room in the Austin area now. I got mine for $105/night on the north side of Austin. Most Austin hotels are already fully booked.

One of my buddies is looking for a hotel but all of them in Austin are waaaay expensive. The LaQuinta is 599 a night! Extortion anyone??? Looks like I will be camping or staying in New Braunfels. Anybody know if camping is allowed at the track??

We are also coming down from British Columbia...what we are doing is staying in San Antonio, and driving up to the race every day. from what the COTA website is telling us, there won't be any parking available at the circuit, unless you are supplied a parking pass as part of the PSL seats. Hopefully the shuttle lots are easy to get to.
