Eurovan Lowering Rear Springs / Air / wheels

Another Newbie set of questions. Working on fixing up and of course making it look nicer. I have searched and read about the torsions on the front.

My question on the rear springs:

What other models of VW will work in regards to lowering springs. MK3 Golf? Or is there a place to buy just the rear lowering springs.

I will be doing Bilsteins all the way around but also considering the airlift helper kit that fits inside the rear springs.

Last what will fit for wheels 17" et?? and 5 x ???

Just google for the springs (H&R) and you should be able to find them. I got lots of hits when I googled just now.

Bolt pattern for the rims is 5x112.

When I had my '00 Eurovan, I had 17x8 rims ET35 with 245-45-17s on them and the sliding door *just* cleared the rear wheel and tire.

Make sure whatever rims you pick that you can get tires that are at least a 98 load rating. Anything lower is too risky.

Yea, anyone that sells springs for a Eurovan is obviously only going to sell the rears since that's all there is on it. Many brands & options to chose from. I believe I even saw a thread for some in this forum. I have 20" rims & the back barely clears the slider door as well. I want to say my offset is 40 or 44 but I can't remember

I understood the OP's comment as looking for just the rear springs as opposed to the cup kit (which is the rear springs plus four shocks).

I had the H&R cup kit on my previous '00 and liked it (and if you're looking for new shocks too it's an OK deal) but I did find the shocks to be a tad soft for my liking. I currently have VMaxx rear lowering springs and Bilstien HDs all around on my '93 and love that combo. IMHO, some sort of lowered rear spring and Bilstein HDs are the best combo.

So VMaxx does offer a kit (a competitor than the H&R kit and it's cheaper than the H&R cup kit), but I found the VMaxx shocks to be pretty much trash as well as the associated hardware. When I got it, one shock had leaked during shipping. Got a replacement (OK). A year later, one rear shock began making a groaning noise with the slightest bump. I got tired of that and bought Bilsteins (so effectively I have Bilstein shocks and VMaxx rear springs now) and the VMaxx shocks are gathering dust in my garage. When I swapped out the front VMaxx shocks to put in the Bilsteins, the front rubber doughnuts that came with the VMaxx shocks were already splitting and cracked after just one year.

I don't have an issue w/VMaxx rear springs though; they seem fine. Just the shocks are cheap trash. But IDK if the springs are sold separate from the whole kit.

If so that explains why the didn't bother contacting me since I had posted I already had the H&R kit & could do a real world comparison. They probably know their stuff was crap & didn't want a tester that already had quality components

That was the same place, yes. I'm fine w/the springs themselves but everything else (shocks, bushings) was a major disappointment.

FYI...at the moment there's a set of just the springs (H&R) f/s on craigslist in the LA area.
