Apparently, 'Penny' drives a 1985 Cabby...(Big Bang Theory)
If you've ever seen the show, it is commonly stated that Penny's "check engine light" is on. Not sure what that means exactly because I don't have a general 'check engine' light. I have a series of lights that tell me things like if the battery is having issues or if the airbag needs something. LOL.
Anyway, should 'we' send them a list of possible common issues that might need attention? Or point out that the Cabby doesn't really have a general 'check engine' light?(actually, that might piss 'em off

I've been watching the show since episode number one. Several times it has been mentioned by passengers (including Leonard's mother) that the check engine light is on. We who know the car ('86/'87 base model Cabriolet), know that there is no check engine light in it. If they wanted to be accurate, considering the show takes place in my hometown of Pasadena, CA, they should've used a '90+ Cabriolet; at least then it would've been believable that the car has Digifant I, which does indeed have a check engine light. Despite the incorrectness and my obsession with these cars, I simply have a laugh and move on; no need to point out the inaccuracy to the producers this late in the game.
There's also a few threads already about this topic, and:

(Still need to add a few that folks have sent in.)
