Ran into a G60 swap on the cheap and was going to use the charger on a different setup. After finally removing the charger, I find it has shaft play. What I'm wondering was if this was normal? Im new to the supercharger scene so i dont know if its the same as turbos. I'm pushing and pulling on the shaft that goes to the pulley and it has perhaps quarter an inch or so of play. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I would think that's not good. I would at least shoot an email or call to Bahn Brenner and get their advice or send it to them to take a look.

It is nothing like a Turbo. End play is normal, but 1/4" sounds excessive. The Charger has flat roller bearings and a Ball bearing on the Pulley side to hold it together. There are not Thrust shims, etc like a Turbo.

May have over done it by saying 1/4 inch. Has same amount as play as alternator ac compressor etc.

Thats perfectly fine. As said above the displace bearing are roller bearings as well as the one in the outlet housing. You can pull it towards u and it will bottom out on the counter weight and push it back and it will hit the rear bearing.

At its about 5mm of movement from memory. i have rebuilt many of these and all have it once run in.
