looking good brother, what coils did you go with?

Wow, alot of haters. Like I said before, I'm not building some cookie cutter VW to make every other person out there love. I put this thing together how I want it and how I like it. You guys can keep hating all you want, its not your car, it's a message forum, and I don't know you so I have no reason to appease your needs, or your interests.

here's another photo of my DUB. on 18" wheels. Flame on.

Thanks dude, and as far as the paint/pin stripe goes I wish the body wasn't rusty and full of dents and mis match spraypaint otherwise I'd keep it.

Personally, I’d run 15”, 16” max with less of an offset and more width for grip. But it’s your ride – to each is own, good luck man.
Well, what I did was I pulled the fenders all out and used a tiny bit of body filler to fill in the little dents I created. The car is also spaced 10mm on the rear so now with 18" 215 wheels, not a single corner rubs anymore unless its on full lock steering.

As far as the 18" wheels go, it handles really well. It's snappy and it's planted, but it will be alot better once coilovers are on and dialed in with some sway bars and strut braces. anyways, thanks for participating in this thread

I'll be the first to admit, I saw that going differently in my mind. But this looks pretty good. Nicely done. Get some more pics up from other angles

What trim/model Jetta is that? Is that a factory graphic on the side and back? Can't make it out in the pics.

It's called a Jetta Pacific. I tried to find out what a pacific is, but I haven't found anything significant. Yes, it's a factory graphic. It's also on the back of the car above the bumper.

Thanks for the link, never heard of them before. that's very cool, do you have the pacific interior? I like! Kind of a reason to forego paint and just work with what you have and keep the graphics...

I would love to forego paint, but the body is in real need of it. The fenders/1/4 panels have some rust, and there is a bunch of dents everywhere. I'm wondering if I can find myself replacement graphics to lay down under clearcoat for when I paint it. And yes, she does have the pacific interior. its real nice tweed type fabric.

This pic makes me think air ride. Get this bish to lay frame on those 18s and it would be sick! Maybe thats just mini-trucker in me talking lol

    For examplemy brothers truck)

    18"
The car looks sweet. I'm not a fan of wheels larger than 16" on ANY application, but you've managed to pull them off nicely.
My only real beef is the tailpipe. the way it's angled down seems like it was an afterthought.
Is that the original exhaust? If no, try to find a way to maybe bend/tuck it up a bit, or do the laws in Canadia prevent you from altering it from factory specs?
Either way, great job on the car.

eh didn't realize you were in calgary, this car was just painted red in another thread wasn't it?

if you aren't already on the local forums there is www.dasdubbers.org and www.clubveedub.com

the design of the rims isn't my favorite but i think the size of the wheels look boss , good for you for doing what you want to it!

if you're looking for any constructive input/criticism however, if it were my car - the proper trim/flare combo and work on the tailpipe a little bit and its lookin real snazzy

...and oh god at those cut coil-overs, i can only imagine the dink that does that crap and drives around on our roads.... makes ya wonder!

The exhaust is kind of last on my list, sorta rusty and fell off the hanger and just sits there. I'm having major idle problems and its running super lean. idles at 2000rpm and i have been trying to figure out why for a while now, thanks for the kudos

nice pictures! those ones really grab the color alot better than in the 'whatd you do to your mk2today' thread

if you have any paint leftover you should consider hitting the bottoms of your bumpers or for sure at least the strip along the bottom of the grill, may be surprised at how much that can really tie the whole car together!

unfortunately i do not have any trim for sale, there are a couple mk2s being parted out in the near area though sign up on the dasdubbers site and check out the classified section you might get lucky! fat trim on the sides would really fit well ! i haven't been to pick and pull for a while but you might be able to find some lights or trim there as well if you haven't already looked

idles at 2000 and runs super lean hey? if you want any help or suggestions feel free to post or pm more descriptive details about everything and would be glad to try and see if we can come up with any helpful ideas

I like the whole idea you're trying to get at with the originality in your build, but those wheels dont belong on that car, you'll find those on a Honda or a chevy or something

if i agree with the direction you are going with your car we are cool and my opinion is welcome and valid? But if i don't, does that make me a "hater"? Just wondering... that's how the interwebs work?
