2008 Passat: Single-Stage or Dual-Stage Airbag?

According to my dealer's info / parts list, all 2008 Passat's come equipped with single-stage air bags.

Can anyone verify this info? The dealer on the phone did not sound very convincing.

I have a 2008 Passat (Turbo trim level) with the plastic 4-spoke steering wheel (with no control buttons) and would like to know if the air bag is really single stage.

Yes your air bag is single stage. I swapt my steering wheel and air bag is single stage..

Did you go to a 3-spoke wheel? MK5? MK6?

ia also have a 2008 passat, and just got a 3 spoke wheel with buttons trying to figure out the swap also

so if 2008 has single stage air bag just like the 3 spoke wheel is it a plug and play kinda thing? except the buttons of course

Yes your air bag is single stage. I swapt my steering wheel and air bag is single stage..

Yes I had a 4 spoke plastic no buttons, swap with MK5 GTI flat bottom with buttons. Only thing i replace ofcourse SW, air bag and Control module that control buttons on steering wheel. Everything was plug and play....
