Hello all I figured I'd make a timeline for my $1200 beater A4 that replaced my 2001.5 when it was totaled

I picked this 99.5 up about march last year

    Did all the regular maintenance
Brakes, t-belt, water pump, and control arms, new Ko3s
    Then onto the mods
S4 wheels, neuspeed race springs- low enough for me-
Transferred my full borla, and gutted the cat, Tapp tune 1 bar file
    Boost guage,

This killed the stock clutch in about a week (178k)
So I picked up an F1 racing stg3 clutch kit with lite (16)lb single mass flywheel and 6 puck sprung hub disc
I broke it in for about 4-500 miles and have been beating on it ever since 185k currently
Started to be really happy with the overall car
And hit a deer, trashed the whole front end,
This lead to depo black housings with hid's and amber corners (
    $ 208 shipped)
And this weekend I picked these up to replace the aging blacked out S4 avus' wheels

Just thinking of colors, any suggestions? This is pull me over red haha but not thinking its staying on a black car

seems like you got the car for a pretty nice price.
imo i would have gotten chrome depo's but i was never into the black lights

if you are ditching the red maybe go with gold and polish the lips? idk i always liked that look.

Yeah most people do say that but once they see the lights in person they like them, nothing looks cheap or fake about them, German made projectors, and nice fluted lenses, std turn signals no goofy stuff going on, I dunno about the red, it's just to see before I do it I like this look though

And no it's not polished out yet, I just spit them today, they will be mirror finish and powder coated possibly

    17x7.5 and 17x8.5 et34/37
I did spend some time looking at your car and the purple AMG's you had Chris that was part of the inspiration, I did the red real quick just to see along with gunmetal / hammered black

    Which I didn't like either

    It's gonna be a bright/ off color
I like the purple, and mint green
    Lime green
    Metal flake gold
    And copper

Well just when I think I might be getting it coming together, I nail a deer on the interstate doing 80+mph

So now I'm rolling a santorin hood & passenger fender, and getting ready to get it put back together ( hood, both fenders, front bumper and lock carrier ) after my second deer- last October I hit one one the drivers' side

Wheel update about another hour each with a poweball and they should be good

It's current shameful appearance after the deer strike- lucky though, another 1"-2 to the the right would have caught the timing belt

You should clean the barrels and paint them black or gold then paint the faces teal.

    It's filthy from my road
It cleans up nice, and it's getting ready to be cut and buffed back to a nice shine

And thats the second time teal has been suggested, it's a possible future color

hadn't updated in awhile, i had a major setback, I had a crank gear failure -sheared the key-way off and 12/20 valves hit the pistons, luckily i was just pulling away from a light, low rpm and not running interstate speeds, so to fix this issue, and prevent any more issues, i decided to pick up the IE manual tensioner and roller assy, with a dowel kit for the new crank gear....

Worst part was I had just ordered a new cam tensioner and chain because I had done all the maint 20k miles ago! plugs, timing belt kit, new water pump, new coolant neck, new t-stat, new turbo last year- which its about done too play in and out and side to side- 034 engine mounts, cam seals, tensioner gasket, v/c gasket and all done.... word of advice, if you run your car hard at all I can only advise the dowel kit .... I recently started checking cars I've had in for t-belt services- you would be surprised at how many plain Jane 2.0 AEG engines I've seen with a keyway cracked or starting to shear off 😳
