Thinking of signing up for a single track marathon this fall. Due to an ankle injury, I cannot run on concrete. I have been running trails for the last year or so, and had run marathons in the past.

I eat pretty low carb, except for ale, and ran a 5 mile run today DEFINITELY in ketosis the whole time (started at 1:45 PM, after 18 hours fasted) and felt great! Will it be possible to run 8 hours of moderate exertion fasted, and in ketosis? Could dead?

Depends how much fat stores you have for your body to get energy from and if you've been low-carb long enough beforehand so your body knows to use fat for energy.

Check out Mark's Daily Apple forums for more info and a better description than I can offer.
