Four times now has my car turned off after accelerating from a stop (going from a stop or traffic light). Its shown no symptoms, in fact its been running perfect since I bought it. It seems to be just the motor, all the electrical stays on and the car turns back on on the first attempt. No fault codes. care in question is an 09 2.0 TSI. has anyone experienced this or have any idea of what it could be?

Fuel pump maybe? Did you scan the car? Do you mean no codes at all or no CEL or MIL? Seems to me that it'd have to be a fuel pump issue but just my guess.

yeah from my research here and the web ive seen this as a possibility. i haven't scanned the car (no vag-com), but yeah i meant no CELs. will a scan reveal the fuel pump issue or is this something that has to be checked another way? I also noticed while searching that the fuel pump issue was bad for the FSI engines, didn't see anything on TSI's having problem...

Not all problems will cause a MIL or CEL, so if you scan, it will tell you anything and everything "different" or wrong with your car. When I say different, I don't mean bad. I have an aftermarket head unit which didn't communicate with the car like the stock one, so the car has a radio communication fault or similar. Wrong means things like this, it may say Fuel pump failure or something of that sort. If it's not the fuel pump, it should tell you what the problem is. I'd say there's definitely something a little weird going on. Don't take it to VW if you can avoid it, they'd charge you $100.00 to tell you what is wrong, then of course, you have to pay to have it fixed See if you can find someone who can scan it for your or get a vag-com cable. Do you have a TSI or FSI? When you open drivers side door after the car has sat for a while, do you hear a little buzz for about 2 seconds? That is when the fuel pump primes itself so it cranks over faster (If I understand it correctly). I'm only 16 and this is my first car so I didn't come in knowing anything, but out of experience (6 months of owning the car) and all the guys on here, I have learned a lot!

I'd have it no other way A lot more fun than the Volvo S60 and the mileage was much less than the F150 I was looking at. All in all, I think it was the right choice.

Drove the car again today and the problem seems t have gotten worse, it not only shut off multiple times but it also did so while parked and now the CEL is on. Taking it in to the stealership in a bit to have it checked..

Noooooooo! Go to autozone first!! Have them scan your cel and post the results here. VW will charge you $100 to tell you what's wrong while autozone and people here can help you for free.

No worries on the cost, I usually avoid the dealerships but the car stil has warranty. Turned out to be the fuel pump after all, so the pump and module are both being replaced right now. Car will hopefully be ready by tonight. I have a 2012 jetta 2.5 sel as a loaner and I don't like it lol. Anyways thanks everyone for your responses/ help
