Sounds like the start of a failing HPFP. I'd start adding in some lubrication with every fill up (A bit of BioD, PowerService, etc) Could even use some ester based 2-stroke premix.

Oh gosh.... I changed my fuel filter today and saw a few specs of the metal flakes on the top of the filter... I've looked and it looks like possibly a failing HPFP? Ugh... anyone else notice this? I have almost 49k miles on it. Otherwise the filter looked somewhat dirty, fuel looked good.
