So im about to pick up this 85 sirocco 8v, but i need a little more kick from it. Im assuming that all the mk2 16v motors will just drop into place correct?

What all needs to be done to do the swap

    I run vdub..

Your gonna need the knock box ecu, engine harness, coil

And hopefully the engine will have all the accessories and sensors
You should be able to use the same fuel distributor

16v axles are 100mm and should slide in fine to your steering knuckles
8v are 90mm the flange that the axles connect to can be swapped to accommodate your 8v axles if you wish. There are plenty o faqs and how To's on this subject if you search
