As my title states, I for some reason am not able to transfer my photo collection to my external hard drive. I've already tried the method that requires you to have the two finder windows open where you drag the iPhoto folder into the external HD and that doesn't work. I have no idea what the issue could be; it's frustrating as hell! Shoot me your advice guys, I'll greatly appreciate it. The computer is a MacBook Pro and the external HD is a 250GB G-Drive, and to my knowledge the G-Drive is compatible with the MB Pro. What the heck is going on?!!!

    forgive the obvious:
    1. make sure external is MAC formatted.
    2. have both windows open.. the window with /users/home/pictures then right click on that folder and select copy
    3. go to the external drive and open it.. then right click and say paste.

it should work , then open iPhoto and point the to the new library folder.

Thanks for the insight. I in fact did find out that my HD is formatted for windows so I'll reformat it into FAT32. Thank you!
