Perfect car?!?!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No fogs, no underpanel, ****ty wheels that don't fit, crappy suspension, backwards sidemarkers, and a typical 16 yr old behind the wheel.
Half assed by some kid. Man I hate what the E36 community has become these days...

wonder what it sounds like driving, as in how loud it is doing 40 in 3rd or 4th
#79
you serious?
faster than the newer 3.2s? what newer 3.2? a stock one?
want to run mine?![]()

I am completely baffled to say the least...everyone in here thinks in some way stock suspension is better than coilovers. Even at this ride height the suspension is in no way worse than stock, to say the least. Geometry, maybe? I haven't actually got under my own car to look at where my control arms etc are sitting with my car lowered
But Im not sure if you guys know anything about coilovers or how they work? I believe the owner of the car video'd has D2 coilovers (something like that) These allow you to set your rebound and ride height in two completely different functions. Therefor the suspension/shock travel is in NO way effected by lowering the car.
Get with it people. You're bashing a great car and for what? coilovers that can be adjusted to however anyone wants them and a exhaust wooo! three effing bolts can fix that. This car also has stainless S52 headers.

disagree, when you wind the whole housing of the coilover down your travel is NOT effected. The only problems you would have is if your tires are hitting something before your bumpstops or if youre actually hitting the ground before your bump stops in which case your rebound and spring rates suck anyway
#86
If you look at the picture I posted, you can see that the shock can be threaded into the bottom cup without losing any travel. I would say that what 81rabbit said is completely accurate. Unless you don't get coilovers with this great feature
#87
Yes, theortically you do retain the travel with this setup. However, is all of that travel USABLE? If you are bottomed out and your frame is 1/2" from the ground, I'd say you have about 1/2" of usable suspension travel if not less. If you go beyond that, your car is below the surface of the road which really isn't possible.
It's a great feature, I know the Ksports used to have this as well. But there is a transition point where you start losing travel even though you are sleeving the shock through the knuckle.

what newbs. Dustin, i will do a video tomorrow on "coilovers for dummies" to show these folks how they workMaybe even do a video of the air ride on the porsche so you guys can figure out why im losing suspension travel when its in "low" mode

Aaahahahahahhahaa.
OP, thanks for doing this to your car, it's driving my car's value up.

this is what an E36 M3 is meant for
what your friend did does nothing to help it but rather decreases its ability
(yes that's me driving my car)

If you want to see the vid but can't see the link in the browser, hit "reply with quote" to the original post and you'll see the Youtube video link.
Sounds like trash. Looks like th 100% typical douche young owner trying to show off that he can afford the cheapest possible M3 BMW available used on craigslist.
Car looks busted with the stuff missing in the front bumper.
Nothing more special than any kid cruising Walmart at night looking for middle-school chicks.
Sorry, no win. Other than it is still an E36 M3, which means with good taste, proper repairs, this thing could be money. Could be. Minus the middle-school girls cruising with him in the back seat.

don't you dare compare your idiot friend to Chuck Stickley...
........Stickley actually did testing to find settings that work on the track and his car is not nearly as slammed as your friend's car
matter of fact, his C-Mod car's drop is not as much as you think it is and it does compromise the roll center a bit but it was corner balanced at the very least
come back when you learn what corner balancing is

I'm not sure if it's the case with the race car pictured above, but isn't it also common (for racing teams with big budgets) to completely change the suspension geometry, mounting points, and everything else in order to accommodate the lowered ride height? (I'm thinking of GT2 and GT3 class cars like we see in ALMS). Is that accurate? That takes a few more dollars and cents beyond slamming it on coilovers.

I finally got a chance to listen to this hunk of shiet...
where is the underpanel?
where are the fog lights?
where is the suspension travel?
where is the tire width that allows the car to be the best handling car back in the 90's?
where
where
where
but a giant cluster fcuk of a car
